Re: Nov. 9 news story.

When I received my U.S. citizenship in October 1986, it was one of the most significant and happiest moments of my life. All the years since, I have been a true and proud American. Tuesday night, in utter disappointment and disillusionment, feeling let down by the electorate of this country whose principles I have come to embrace, I wanted to give back my U.S. citizenship. But Wednesday morning, listening to Hillary Clinton deliver her concession speech, I was overcome with pride once again, and with hope that everything is going to be all right. We were, in fact, mostly rooting for Hillary, the woman. She may have lost as a candidate, but her aspirations and dreams for the country live on. Go Hillary’s dreams!

Re: Nov. 9 Megan Schrader column.

Megan Schrader listed several impossible promises Hillary Clinton made as reasons for her loss. Schrader was correct, but she failed to mention the most important reasons. Clinton was responsible for the deaths of four diplomats in Libya, then lied about the reasons for the attack. She lied about e-mailing top-secret information from a personal server. But her greatest mistake was calling half of Donald Trump’s supporters a “basket of deplorables.”

I thought Hillary Clinton showed poise and strength in her exchanges with the president-elect during and after the election. She expressed positive views and made every attempt to discuss the issues. The country should thank her for her years of service. Why not march in her honor to thank her for the example she is to all women?
