Golden-based HomeAdvisor said Thursday it is expanding its Indianapolis office after receiving Indiana state government incentives.

HomeAdvisor, which connects home contractors to home owners, will invest $1.9 million to double its square footage. The expansion includes adding an 8,800-square-foot facility at 342 Massachusetts Ave. that is similar to two other collaborative workspaces HomeAdvisor already occupies.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is giving HomeAdvisor Inc up to $1.25 million in tax credits based on job creation. Just like the incentives Colorado offers out-of-state companies, the credits kick in only after jobs are filled. HomeAdvisor said it plans to add 170 new jobs in 2017.

“This is a sales office and there are 70 people in our office currently there,” company spokeswoman Brooke Gabbert said. “This expansion is part of our plan to grow in Indianapolis and was not slated for Denver as we had always hoped to expand in Indy if the flagship office was successful – which it has been.”

The company employs more than 2,000 people nationwide, with the majority in Golden. HomeAdvisor has committed to in Denver. The project is still under construction.
