Re: Nov. 12 Jon Caldara column.

I had stopped reading Jon Caldara’s columns because I was offended by his condescension. Recently, The Post printed a column about his children. It was heartfelt and kind. When I came across his column in last Sunday’s Perspective, I decided to try again. Waste of time.
If Caldara’s objective is to speak only to the like-minded, then I suppose his tone is fine. However, if the objective is to help people see a different perspective (hence being published in a daily newspaper), the condescending tone that is his modus operandi will not do the trick. Phrases like “nanny city” or “thatap, um, how liberal cities celebrate diversity” do nothing to explain the unintended consequences of the policies he dislikes. They take space that could be used to better explain why risk compensation — and a parallel to the auto industry — may or may not be applicable.
