Facing a 21-10 deficit, No. 4 Regis Jesuit scored twice with less than five minutes to play in the first half and then held No. 5 Eaglecrest to just three points in the second half en route to a 34-24 win in 5A quarterfinal action at Lou Kellogg Stadium on Friday night.
RJHS defensive end Jake Heimlicher had the play of the night, as the junior’s 46-yard scoop-and-score late in the third quarter gave the Raiders a 31-24 lead they did not relinquish.
Regis Jesuit (11-1) now takes on No. 1 Pomona (11-1) in the semifinal next week, while the Raptors finish their season 11-1 and as Mount Wilson Conference champions.
