Re: Nov. 29 news story.

With regards to Colorado’s new felony DUI law, I read that the state’s first such conviction would result in “probation to up to six years of prison.” This sentence, for what was a fourth offense, is an absolute joke.  The point of a law targeting repeat offenders should be to actually punish them appropriately for committing multiple crimes.  Until we get serious about the dangers of driving under the influence, we’re never going to solve the problem.

You can’t go a single day without reading about an innocent person hit by a drunk driver.  DUI can kill; we need to acknowledge that in properly addressing this needless and senseless, yet habitual, crime.
