A 28-year-old Loveland man accused of kidnapping a woman and beating her in the mountains in June was sentenced Thursday to 18 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
Joshua Romo, who has been in custody since his arrest June 20, was sentenced to 10 years in the kidnapping case and eight years in an earlier witness intimidation case. The sentences run consecutively, Boulder County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Catherine Olguin said.
In October, Romo pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in Boulder District Court. Nine other counts, including second-degree kidnapping, were dismissed, according to court records.
Romo also at that time entered a plea of guilty for intimidating a witness in a previous case, in which seven counts including stalking were dropped. Before he was arrested in the kidnapping case, Romo had been out on bond for the prior case.
According to his arrest affidavit, officers responded to the report of a barefoot, bloodied and bruised woman the afternoon of June 20 at Bradley Gas Station, 1700 Main St., in Longmont.
