Interview with Lynn Paulsen, CEO
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
:After being a manufacturer’s representative for all types of horse products, I wanted a store.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
:Our team, our product selection and our service. Horses can be dangerous, as well as fun, so get your gear from informed and trained staff. We love to fit each riding helmet to each rider and the colors and options for both horse and rider fashion are fantastic. Our shop is also decorated with a beautiful mural and art in the front window. That comes courtesy of fabulous students and leader, Carlos Fresquez, and his designer, Leah Crise, from Metropolitan State University. This collaborative project featured up to 30 fourth year students and was a graded final project. We love it.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
:Growing young team members in business and delivering excellent and informed service to our customers.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
:Big box stores trying to copy our buying.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
:I love to take our youngest team members to market with buying budget. They love to see where these products come from, the selection, qualities and why they might be great for our customers and their budgets.
