Being a fiscally conservative, small-government individual, I have not always agreed with President Obama and his statements. At his last press conference he stated that the American people are better off than they were eight years ago. I do agree with this statement.
In 2009 we had a liberal-minded president, the U.S. Senate had 59 Democrats, the U.S. House of Representatives had 257 Democrats, and there were 29 states with Democrats as governors. In 2017 we will have a president-elect who is pro-business, there are 48 Democrats in the U.S. Senate, there are 194 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives, and there are 18 Democratic governors.
If you believe in a fiscally conservative approach to government, this certainly indicates that we are potentially better off than we were eight years ago. Now it is up to the Republicans to make fiscally responsible decisions.
