Pueblo police have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of shooting a bail bondsman on Thursday morning.
SWAT officers took Adrian Carrera into custody at a motel in Fowler, a town just east of Pueblo. He was booked into the Pueblo County jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and outstanding warrants.
Police say Carrera tried to flee when officers move in to arrest him late Thursday, climbing out of a bathroom window and taking off on foot before he was tracked down in a field. Authorities say he had a loaded handgun.

In the motel room, Pueblo police say they also found more weapons and ammunition.
Carrera is accused of shooting the 48-year-old bondsman just before noon on Thursday in the area of 12th Street and Reading Avenue. The victim was in stable condition when he was taken to a hospital.
Police say Carrera also was arrested by SWAT officers in April while he was wanted on three warrants, and at the time was found to be in possession of cash, drugs and a weapon.

Pueblo police spokesman Sgt. Eric Gonzales said Friday that investigators are still looking into the relationship between Carrera and the bondsman. He said it wasn’t clear if the bondsman had ever been hired by Carrera.
“That we don’t know,” he said.
An investigation into the case is ongoing.
