for suspicion of first-degree assault after a shooting involving another teen Friday afternoon in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County deputies found a 14-year-old boy inside a home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries Friday. The Jefferson County Sheriff Department said he was still in critical condition Saturday morning.

The boy in custody ran from the scene but deputies found him about 2 miles away.

The boys’ names were not released. A weapon had not been recovered Friday night.
