Re: “,” Jan. 5 letter to the editor.

There are a number of inaccuracies in Tom Vinson’s letter. But it is hardly surprising, considering that the Vinson is a part of the American Wind Energy Association (i.e. the wind lobby).

He says, for instance, “As modern turbines with bigger blades are replacing outdated equipment with smaller ones, impacts are falling by 80 percent.” In fact, the opposite is true. Bigger wind turbines sweep a portion of the airspace larger than a football field, and reach higher in the sky.

The Pine Tree wind farm in California has killed eight eagles in its first two years of operation, and I have reasons to believe the actual number is several times that official figure. In Australia, the Bald Hills wind farm has killed seven eagles in four months, etc. Find out more about this hidden massacre via Save the Eagles International website, www.savetheeaglesinternational.org.
