Itchin’ for a fixin’. In the parking lot of EZ Pawn, 4595 Wadsworth Blvd., Wheat Ridge, a man was seen walking around trying to open car doors Jan. 6. He gained entry into one car and stole the victim’s lighter and a pack of cigarettes. Police arrested him.

Parental kidnapping. On Jan. 9, an employee at Kaiser Permanente, 4803 Ward Road, Wheat Ridge, agreed to supervise two children while their mother was in an appointment. The employee reported a parental kidnapping when the father showed up and took the children without permission. They were located almost two hours later in safe condition. Investigations revealed no custody agreements or protection orders, so criminal charges could not be articulated.

Hit and run. Arvada police were dispatched to Lutheran Medical Center, 8300 W. 38th Ave., on Jan. 6 where a man reported that on his walk to work he was struck by a vehicle. The responsible driver, in a silver Toyota sedan with tinted windows, did not stop to check on the victim. There is no further information available at this time.

Sticky fingers. On Jan. 11, a loss and prevention officer at The Home Depot, 5215 Colorado State Highway 121, Arvada, witnessed a man conceal a Ryobi TEK 4 Inspection Scope in his jacket. On his way out of the store the man also grabbed a king sized Snickers bar and a king sized pack of M&Ms. He didn’t pay for any of the items, which were valued at a total of $102.96. Police contacted the suspect in the parking lot and served him a summons for theft and a trespass notice.

After hours. A woman was contacted by Wheat Ridge police on Jan. 9 after it was reported that she was at Prospect Park, 1130 W. 44th Ave., after hours. The woman was in a camper with a dog and a couple of parakeets. A clearance revealed a felony for eluding a warrant.
