Re: “” Dec. 27 news story.

Colorado State Patrol support is urgently needed to ensure safety along U.S. 36.

I routinely travel along 36, often paying for the new toll lane to avoid potential traffic. Aggressive drivers frequently tailgate close behind. Many finally pass across the double white lines. I have even been passed illegally on the shoulder. I also see drivers cross the double lines to enter the express lane when traffic backs up. I slammed on my brakes to avoid hitting one driver who crossed recently (adding insult, he crossed back over just before the toll cameras). Worse, a driver hit another car in front of me when crossing recently. Even more drivers exceed the speed limit. While heading to Boulder with my toddler on a recent morning, one driver was going at least 90 miles per hour.

These drivers need to know there are consequences for unlawful and unsafe behavior. I hope dearly those consequences are only tickets.
