Part of license plate stolen. On Jan. 1, a resident of the 1400 block of Utah Street, Golden, reported finding the lower right hand corner of his vehicle’s license plate missing. The corner was where the registration sticker was placed. The victim estimated the crime took place sometime the night before. Golden Police noted that a crime of the same nature happened nearby around the same time.

Whole license plates stolen. On Jan. 2, a resident of the 1700 block of West 16th Avenue, Golden, reported both front and rear license plates missing from his car parked in an apartment building parking lot. The victim estimated the plates went missing sometime since Dec. 29. There were no suspects.

License plate thief confesses. A woman reported Jan. 1 that her license plate was stolen while her car was at her friend’s apartment complex at 1700 Golden Circle, Golden. The friend called the apartment manager, who suspected a resident who had complained about people parking in that spot in the past. Police contacted the suspect, who answered his door with license plate in hand, saying he hoped to confront the victim about parking in his spot. The victim did not want to press charges and her license plate was returned.

Storage unit robbed. The renter of a storage unit at Colfax West Self Storage, 18180 W. Colfax Ave., Golden, reported Jan. 3 that the contents of her storage unit had been stolen. The renter’s son said he accessed the unit and found it undisturbed on Dec. 19, but it was empty when he returned Dec. 28. The unit’s manager said an employee walked by the unit sometime in December and found the door open and the unit empty, so they assumed the renter was done with it and replaced the lock. Police were unable to see a suspect on surveillance.
