Re: Jan. 18 editorial.
I am a volunteer at Dinosaur Ridge and would like to offer a different point to editorial. First, I would like to applaud Jefferson County Commissioners Casey Tighe and Libby Szabo for having the vision to see beyond the economics. Dinosaur Ridge is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 dinosaur sites in the world. Our mission is to educate and to preserve our treasures. Every year we have 170,000 visitors from all parts of the world, and we offer education programs that touch 17,000 of our local school children. The commercialization of the area around our visitor center would strangle our ability to serve our guests. Today we don’t have adequate parking to support our events. Development around the ridge would severely hinder access to this magnificent area. I urge all concerned citizens to continue their vigil to protect the legacy of Dinosaur Ridge.
