The three bad guys wielding hand guns and an AK-47 rifle were seemingly prepared for an elaborate armored-car robbery but their target was only a Pizza Hut driver toting a pizza in a pouch.
The suspects, who allegedly made their get away in a black Nissan Xterra with the pizza and whatever change the driver was carrying, have not yet been captured, according to a Colorado Springs police.
The 11:30 p.m. delivery call was highly suspicious from the beginning.
When the driver knocked on the door of a home in the 3300 block of Mountainside Drive, no one answered. The driver knocked and knocked and knocked. It appeared to be some kind of hoax.
The Pizza Hut driver’s ride back to the pizza shop got even stranger.
There was a black Xterra parked on Mountainside Drive. Three men were inside. The SUV started moving as the pizza driver approached and appeared to be following the car out of the neighborhood. Once on Rangewood Drive, the Xterra accelerated, cut in front of the pizza driver, forcing him to stop.
Three men climbed out of the Xterra flashing handguns and an AK-47. The suspects fled the area and were not located, according to the Colorado Springs police report.
It wasn’t an armored car robbery but it wasn’t a petty crime either. Police from the Stetson Hills division of the Colorado Springs police department are seeking three suspects on possible robbery charges, the report says.
