Re: Jan. 24 news story.

Think President Donald Trump’s freeze on Environmental Protection Agency grants doesn’t affect you? Do you want safe drinking water? How about clean air to breathe? Clean beaches? A radon-free house? Less mercury in hospitals? The EPA funds projects to accomplish all of these things. It also funds universities doing scientific research, which gives students fantastic opportunities as they earn their degrees.

Trump’s action has a huge affect on all of us. He must remove the grant freeze.

When I read this article, I felt as though I had awakened in an alternate universe where the free speech guaranteed by our constitution was no longer protected. Russia? Nazi Germany?

How is it possible that the U.S. president can shut down communication with a government agency? Surely this is not legal. Did we destroy our constitution when we elected this man? This is not a partisan concern. I’m hoping all our elected officials will rise up and protest this egregious overreach of power.
