President Donald Trump speaks in the Oval Office of the White House on Monday before signing an executive order aimed at significantly cutting regulations.

I never imagined that I would be embarrassed to be an American.  But since the inauguration my shame has grown on an almost daily basis. From the narrow-minded “we win, you lose” tone of Donald Trump’s inaugural speech, to the blatant executive lies, to the wall, to the proposed tariffs and now the Muslim ban (which ironically excludes Muslim countries where Trump has business interests), we are dishonoring our heritage and degrading our image.

We are rapidly moving from one of the most admired nations in the world  to the one of the least respected. Our brand as a world leader is in serious jeopardy. The current trajectory, if sustained,  will only serve to impoverish us all. I would like to urge all of those who believe in American values to stand up and tell your friends, your congressmen and anyone else who will listen that you too are ashamed.

I am liking Donald Trump better and better every day. He is actually doing what he said he would do. He has begun to build a wall. He has ordered a federal hiring freeze. He has halted the influx of masses from terrorism-prone countries and has signed an order directing border officials to end “catch and release” and to enforce the immigration laws. He has nullified the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal. He has stopped the flood of more and more regulations. He shows every indication that he will nominate a law-oriented Supreme Court justice and will promptly do his part to repeal Obamacare and reform the tax code. I like all this.

The venomous media rants against Trump have become quite tiresome. The Washington Post, whose articles are frequently reprinted verbatim in The Denver Post, is the national leader of the attacks and pours out the most bile, but The Denver Post does occasionally write its own material to demonstrate that it is truly a member of the anti-Trump club and to snuggle up with the media big boys.

Enough already! Look at the actions taken and policies implemented, and think about their effects on our country and the world, if you can.

Forget inauguration crowd size; these are the recent developments that should alarm freedom-loving Americans: First, Donald Trump downgraded the roles of the director of national intelligence and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from the National Security Council in favor of Steve Bannon, chief Trump strategist and known white supremacist. Second, Jews were not mentioned in the White House’s Holocaust Remembrance statement. Third, the executive order banning citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S. affords Christians a “special status” that effectively exempts them from the ban, even as Trump pretends it is not a Muslim ban.
