
A former soldier has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and first-degree burglary in Colorado Springs.
Daniel Allen Newell, 25, admitted to the charges on Friday in El Paso County court. Court records show prosecutors dismissed allegations of first-degree murder.
Newell is set to the sentenced on April 28, prosecutors say.

Newell was , after he was identified as a suspect in the April 15, 2016, slaying on Colorado Springs’ west side.
Newell is a former Fort Carson soldier and that Sullivan’s killing happened on the 200 block of North 7th Street as Newell and another man were trying to steal marijuana from a home. The newspaper says Newell told the court he has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.
