The metro area should be mostly sunny Saturday and Sunday with highs in the upper 50s, rebounding from a few cold days that had digits lower than usual.

Saturday should have 30-40 mph winds that diminish overnight, clearing the way for a sunny and nice Sunday, National Weather Service spokesman Kyle Fredin said. Both days look like they’ll have lows in the lower 30s.

February typically sees highs around 45 degrees and lows near 17 degrees, which Fredin said is warmer than the last few days of highs that at times could barely crack 30 degrees, let alone 40.

The lower-elevation mountain areas should have highs in the low-to-mid 30s and lows in the teens this weekend. Not too shabby for anyone heading up for a skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing weekend.

“If they like snow and wind conditions, they’re in luck,” Fredin said.

The mountain area has a chance of snow from Saturday to Friday, Fredin said. There are a few snow-free breaks, including Sunday and Thursday.
