A wind change Tuesday afternoon is expected to signal the arrival of a small storm that could bring rain showers to the Denver Metro area, forecasters say.

But for the most part, the week should be at least partly sunny and unseasonably warm. The normal high temperature for early February is 45 degrees.

Steady breezes carrying winds of up to 18 mph from the southwest will shift in the afternoon to a northwesterly direction, according to meteorologists from the National Weather Service in Boulder. Winds may gust up to 40 mph.

There is a 10 percent chance of rain after 4 p.m. The high temperature is expected to reach 62 degrees on Tuesday.

Between 10 to 20 inches of snow is expected to fall in the mountains by Wednesday, the NWS says. Wind gust in the mountains could reach 60 mph.

Expect mostly sunny skies in Denver on Wednesday with a high of 57 degrees, weather forecasters say. It will be another windy day with gusts out of the northwest up to 37 mph.

Temperatures will continue to climb towards the end of the week with the high expected to be 66 degrees on Thursday and 68 on Friday.

The next chance for rain arrives Saturday, mostly after 11 a.m. The forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high of around 55 degrees.

Expect partly sunny skies again Sunday, with a high near 43 degrees, the weather services says.
