Marisol Services, a Catholic Charities initiative offering free or low-cost health, housing and human services to women in need, was the beneficiary from the 2017 Beacon of Hope Gala.
The exact amount raised is still being tallied, but organizers report that the total will be in “the thousands of dollars.”
The festivities at Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum included marketplace shopping, dinner, music, a live auction and video presentations where past and current clients shared how the help they received had changed their lives for the better.
The 880 guests came from throughout the Front Range and included Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, who praised the organization for “Standing in the gap for so many vulnerable individuals. The city of Denver is humbled and proud to be your partner.”
Larry Smith, the president and chief executive officer of Catholic Charities, also welcomed such supporters as Steve Stemper, president/CEO of The Catholic Foundation of Northern Colorado; Tom Heule, vice chair of the Catholic Charities of Denver board, and his wife, Lisa; Ed and Laurie Vieira (she’s executive director of the Martin Family Foundation); and retired Starz Entertainment president Mark Bauman and his wife, Nancy.Joanne Davidson: 303-809-1314, partiwriter@hotmail.com and @joannedavidson on Twitter
