Melissa Hart wants us to believe that Republican recalcitrance is to blame for the ruination of the Supreme Court nominating process. Has she forgotten that her party’s Senate majority, under the gavel of one Harry Reid, trashed the Senate’s cloture rule and put the nuclear option on the table?
Giving Merrick Garland a hearing would have accomplished little, since the Republican Senate could have indefinitely stalled a confirmation vote. Democrats didn’t make a stink about it because they, like everyone else, figured that Hillary Clinton was inevitable. Now we have President Donald Trump and Senate Democrats in a seriously weakened position to oppose him. Thanks, Harry. The Democrats have made their bed of nails and now they, and the rest of the country, will have to sleep on it.
