An armed Moffat man was shot by deputies after he pointed a gun at them, according to a Saguache County sheriff’s news release.

Authorities were called at about 9 a.m. Sunday to a home in the 62000 block of County Road EE on reports of a “man with a gun,” the sheriff’s office said.

Three deputies and a state trooper arrived and made contact with a man inside a home. The man, identified as Jason Ingalsbe, 45, came out of the house yelling, pointing a gun at the deputies, according to the release.

Two deputies fired at Ingalsbe. He was taken to San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound and released.

Ingalsbe was arrested and booked into the Saguache County jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree assault and felony menacing. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Two deputies who fired at Ingalsbe were placed on administrative leave by the sheriff’s office pending an ongoing investigation. The deputies’ names were not released.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation, along with local authorities, are investigating.
