Officer shot, man killed in Golden gas station shooting

The officer’s injuries are not life-threatening, officials said

who opened fire on officers, wounding one, in a confrontation at a gas station on West Colfax Avenue early Saturday, city officials said.

Golden police officers responded to the Circle K at 17691 W. Colfax Ave. at 2:30 a.m. after someone reported a man with a handgun, city officials said on social media.

The man fired at officers, hitting one, and officers returned fire, hitting and killing the man, city officials said. The officer who was shot was taken to a hospital with wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening.

A is investigating, Golden officials said. People should avoid the area because of the ongoing  investigation.
