In the late 1990s, real estate broker Jeany Rush had a mission, to sell Red Rock Canyon to Donald Trump -- or anyone else with the dough. The Trump Organization actually looked at the $12 million canyon but didn't bite. Rush stands near a picturesque pond on the property that is now open space.

It has the ring of fake news, but according to a Colorado Springs real estate agent involved in a late 1990s bid to market a coveted parcel in the city’s western foothills, a Trump-branded property was briefly a possibility here.

What the Trump Organization had in mind for Red Rock Canyon – then a privately owned refuge on the market for $15 million – isn’t exactly clear.

But in 1997, the Trump team reportedly notified the late former owner, John S. Bock, that it had sent representatives on a helicopter flyover to investigate the property’s development potential, according to real estate agent Jeany Rush.
