Into thin air. Construction crews working on a home in the 14000 block of Night Owl Lane, Douglas County, called police to report the structure’s HVAC and air conditioning systems had been stolen sometime between Feb. 4 and Feb. 6. The home is under construction but has windows and doors and should have been secured when crews were not there. The air systems were valued at a combined $4,000.
Door damage. A woman living in the 2200 block of Charissglen Pointe, Highlands Ranch, found the back door to her garage had apparently been pried open sometime before the afternoon of Feb. 13. Nothing appeared to have been stolen from within the garage but the homeowner was concerned because the door can only be accessed through her backyard. She paid a contractor to repair the broken door frame before police arrived.
Illinois fraudster. A unidentified person stopped at Douglas County Sheriff’s Office headquarters, 4000 Justice Way, Castle Rock, Jan. 27 to report a fraud. The victim recently visited a U.S. Bank branch to check the balance of an account they use only to pay for an aunt’s nursing home. The teller told them the account had paid for six transactions at a grocery store in Illinois. The victim canceled the debit card attached to the account.
Motel maleficence. Police responded to the Extended Stay America motel, 8752 Yosemite St., Lone Tree, Feb. 4 on reports of suspicious people there. They found illegal drugs and arrested “several adult males” on charges including drugs possession, fraud and violation of a protection order.
