Getting your player ready...

There’s a new southern restaurant opening in Denver, y’all. LOW Country Kitchen will debut in LoHi on Monday, Feb. 27. If you frequent Steamboat Springs, you might already know them – the first LOW opened there in spring 2014. The comfort food and warm hospitality were a hit, so owners Katy and Brian Vaughn decided to bring the country down to us city folk.

“As native Southerners, we have been so pleased with the warmth of our staff and the generosity shown to us by our neighbors in LoHi,” Katy said. “If you like juicy fried chicken, chilly drinks and fabulous music, we hope you will stop on by.”

This is a real-deal southern eatery – they’ve got the porch and wicker chairs to prove it – and they take their buttermilk fried chicken seriously. Other drool-worthy items off the menu are the smoked marrow bones, slow-cooked, 48-hour pork ribs and shrimp & grits (we can pretty much guarantee you’ll be licking up the pool of tomato and bacon gravy).

And you know those southerners like their moonshine – try The Charleston cocktail, full of rum, bourbon, peach brandy, pineapple and huckleberries. We reckon you’ll be coming back real soon. (Are you fixin’ to get real annoyed with our hackneyed southern expressions? Well bless your heart.)

LOW Country Kitchen – 1575 A Boulder St., Denver, 720-512-4168, , Open 4:30 p.m.-close daily
