
FORT COLLINS — A Berthoud teen pleaded not guilty Thursday afternoon to charges of first-degree murder and second-degree kidnapping in the fatal June shooting of his ex-girlfriend, .
Friends and family of Doolittle, who was when her body was found in western Colorado, filled the courtroom of 8th District Judge Gregory Lammons to hear the plea of her alleged killer, .
Flores’ attorney, Daniel Jasinski, filed a motion for an evaluation of the teen’s mental health before proceeds. District Attorney Cliff Riedel did not object to the evaluation, which will take place at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo.
In setting a date for Flores’ next appearance, Lammons noted he did not know how long it would take the state hospital to complete Flores’ evaluation. “We don’t have control over the state hospital, and they are always booked full.”
The judge set a status conference in Flores’ case for April 10.
