Mikaela Shiffrin’s decision not to race Friday’s alpine combined in Crans Montana, Switzerland, allowed one of her pursuers in the World Cup overall standings to gain 80 points on her, but otherwise her front-running position was unaffected.

Shiffrin and teammate Lindsey Vonn were among several racers who refused to compete because of what they deemed unsafe snow conditions that should have forced cancellation of the race.

Ilka Stuhec of Slovenia finished second in the race, garnering 80 points to move from fourth place to third in the overall standings and pass Sofia Goggia of Italy. Goggia and Tessa Worley of France, who is fifth in the standings, both failed to finish the race.

A super-G is scheduled there for Saturday and another combined on Sunday.

World Cup overall standings (10 races remaining)

Mikaela Shiffrin, EagleVail, 1,203 points

Lara Gut, Switzerland, 1,023 (injured, out for season)

Ilka Stuhec, Slovenia, 865

Sofia Goggia, Italy, 789

Tessa Worley, France, 712
