Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty mistakenly give the Academy Award for Best Picture to "La La Land" Sunday night at the Oscars. After some confusion, the award was given to "Moonlight."

My wife asked me to watch the end of the Academy Awards with her. We were waiting for the climax — the award for Best Picture — and she said there had been no lengthy political speeches but several participants had indicated they knew more about running the country than the current administration. Someone mixed up the ultimate envelope. Faye Dunaway awarded the wrong winner. Everyone hit the stage, tripping all over each other like the Three Stooges meets the Keystone Cops.

Then I understood. Hollywood proved they can be more entertaining than Donald Trump. Hollywood apparently believes slapstick comedy is better for the country than government — and maybe they’re right.
