Gin Doctors at Stoney’s Bar and Grill
The world of the cover band is an enigmatic one. With an arsenal of everyone’s favorite songs, fame is automatic, but fleeting: As soon as the set is over, so is the thrill. That hasn’t been the case with Denver’s Gin Doctors. Founded in 2012, the band’s goofy energy and expert curation of songs from ’90s powerhouses like the Backstreet Boys, Green Day and the Spice Girls has established them as a beloved fixture in the scene. After the loss of its co-founder Tyler Despres last year, the band announced it would play one final show. Catch the Gin Doctors four-hour farewell show on March 4 at Stoney’s Bar and Grill. Free.
Lake Street Dive (with Joey Dosik) at the Ogden Theatre and Boulder Theater
In a perfect world, everyone would be able to afford Lake Street Dive as their wedding band. Fronted by Rachael Price, the four-piece is as breezy and fun as a summer Saturday. Started by classmates at Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music in 2004, their immense musical chops betray how intricate their silky concoction of soul, jazz and folk. To quote one of the band’s singles, it goes down smooth. Colorado gets two chances to get a taste of what the band has been serving up: at the Ogden Theatre on March 9 and the Boulder Theater on March 10. Tickets to both shows are sold out.
