An off-duty Castle Rock police officer, walking with his wife Wednesday evening on a Parker trail, shot and killed a dog that authorities say began attacking the couple.
The incident happened about 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the Canterberry Subdivision.
The dog was shot twice, according to Parker police. Investigators did not say whether the officer used his duty weapon.
“It’s my understanding that there’s not going to be any charges against the officer,” Parker police Officer Sherry Corcoran said. “However, there may be charges against the dog owner.”
The Parker Police Department said Friday that an investigation into the case remains ongoing.
