The Denver Art Museum is extending the run of and keeping the Hamilton Wing open for extended hours during the last days of the show. The exhibit features 70 original costumes from the movie series, including Queen Amidala’s throne room gown and Darth Vader’s black armor.
Costumes of storm troopers, C-3PO, R2-D2, Han Solo, Darth Sidious’ Senate chamber robes, a Tusken raider and Boba Fett will now be on display at the museum until April 9.
The exhibit gives museum visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the process of creating 70 Star Wars costumes, including how Chewbacca came to life from his original concept drawing, according to a news release.
The extended hours will give patrons access to the entire Hamilton Wing as well as the interactive, hands-on Costume Studio. The museum will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 24; 9 a.m. to 10p.m. March 25 and 26; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 30-31; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. April 1 and 2; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 8 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 9.“Star Wars and the Power of Costume” was developed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in partnership with the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and in consultation with Lucasfilm Ltd.
Timed tickets to the special exhibit run $28 for adults, including an audio guide, and $5 for kids between the ages of 5 and 18, including audio guide.
