Getting your player ready...

Expect warm temperatures in the Denver metro area this weekend — but hold onto your hat.

Highs should be in the upper 60s Saturday and Sunday, National Weather Service spokesman Kyle Fredin said. But don’t start setting up your sun-tanning chair just yet as southwest winds may bring gusts of 25 mph Saturday afternoon and 30 mph Sunday afternoon. Lows for the weekend should stay in the upper 30s.

The coming week should be mild, spring-like and dry with winds continuing Monday night into Tuesday, Fredin said.

The dry, hot and gusty windy weather has increased fire dangers, putting at least half of Colorado, including Denver, on Red Flag Warning, which prohibits open burning.

Those heading up to the mountains for the weekend should expect highs between 35-45 degrees Saturday and in the high 30s Sunday. Wind gusts are expected around 40 mph, Fredin said. The next chance of snow will be Monday with a potential of 3 inches on the horizon.
