Pearl Izumi cycling gear company hires new president at Colorado HQ

The company is focused on providing the best “performance cycling, mountain biking and (triathlon) apparel, shoes and accessories.”

Active wear retailer Pearl Izumi, based in Louisville, has hired Chris Sword as president, company officials announced last week.

Sword replaces Mike O’Conner, who retired in December.

Sword has served in several capacities for various companies over the last decade, including as president at the Oberalp Group, which owns the Dynafit, Salewa, Wild Country and Pomoca brands. Sword also worked for Ford Motor Co. and Russell Athletic.

In January, the company exited the running category, ceasing production of its running footwear and apparel to focus on cycling gear.
