A 58-year-old woman was killed Wednesday evening in a San Luis Valley rollover crash, and investigators say they suspect alcohol and speed were factors.

Ida Price, of San Luis, died after wrecking her 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier on a gravel road in the Sangre De Cristo Ranches area of Costilla County between Fort Garland and San Luis, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The 6:15 p.m. crash happened on Juarez Road near Remson Road where authorities say Price lost control of the Chevrolet.

“The vehicle started rotating counter-clockwise and ran off the left side of the road where the vehicle rolled and struck a large tree,” the State Patrol said in a Thursday crash bulletin. “Price, who was not wearing a seat-belt, was ejected from the vehicle.”

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Excessive speed and alcohol are being considered factors in the crash, which the State Patrol says remains under investigation.
