Third time’s not the charm. On March 6, at Good Times, 4020 Wadsworth Blvd., Wheat Ridge, a man entered a car in the drive-thru and attempted to strangle the driver and steal the car. Unsuccessful, he fled the car and ran to a nearby Safeway gas station where he tried to do the same thing to a car and its passenger at a pump. Unsuccessful again, he ran to a Burger King and attempted the same thing. This time he managed to steal the car, but crashed it shortly after. He was arrested on scene.
Bad patient. On March 1, at the Lutheran Medical Center, 8300 W. 38th Ave., Wheat Ridge, a patient was cited with criminal mischief after intentionally damaging the equipment being used to monitor his heart.
Fast driver, furious officers. Wheat Ridge officers were called to the 8400 block of westbound I-70 on March 2 after several witnesses called to report a car driving at approximately 100 mph and weaving through traffic. The suspect driver struck two other cars and caused a three-car rollover. He refused all roadside tests and was combative with officers.
Dinner at stake. A customer at King Soopers, 3400 Youngfield St., Wheat Ridge, was cited for shoplifting a rib-eye steak on March 2.
Secret bonus. On March 6, an employee at King Soopers, 3400 Youngfield St., Wheat Ridge, was caught by loss prevention taking money out of the cash register. He then admitted to stealing more than $2,500 during the past week.
Ghost thief. Wheat Ridge officers responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle in the 2800 block of Depew St., where they found an empty Chevy Truck with the motor running. The truck was originally reported stolen out of Lakewood.
