The Boulder County Coroner’s Office identified a man found dead in Rocky Mountain Park on Longs Peak last week as Pawel Abramczyk of Boulder.

Abramczyk, 39, was found afternoon. He and two other men were attempting to summit Longs Peak , when he decided to return to the Longs Peak trailhead alone, Kyle Patterson, a spokeswoman for RMNP said.

He was last seen at the top of the Loft around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

When the man’s two friends returned to the trailhead later in the day, they noticed his vehicle was still in the parking lot and reported him missing to park rangers at 6:15 p.m., Patterson said.

Rocky Mountain National Park Search and Rescue began a search early Sunday morning.
