Niwot football coach gets deferred sentence in plea deal

Dylan Thomas Hollingsworth pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment and criminal mischief

Dylan Thomas Hollingsworth, the , has taken a plea deal in the case and was given a deferred sentence.

Hollingsworth, 44, pleaded guilty on Thursday to misdemeanor harassment and criminal mischief and was given a 12-month deferred sentence with probation supervision, according to Boulder County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Catherine Olguin.

In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped the original second- and third-degree assault charges from the Oct. 26 altercation with the 17-year-old student.

Before the plea deal, the St. Vrain Valley School District placed Hollingsworth — who also is a teacher at the school — on administrative leave. School officials could not be reached on Tuesday because the district is on spring break, and it was unclear what Hollingsworth’s status with the district and the team was.
