
A mix of rain and snow is possible late Monday night along the Front Range while between 8 and 16 inches of new snow could blanket the mountains, forecasters say.
Early in the day it will be mostly sunny with a high temperature of about 54 degrees, according to the forecast by the National Weather Service in Boulder.
There is a chance for rain before 10 p.m. Snow could begin falling after 3 a.m. Tuesday when temperatures are expected to dip to around 30 degrees. It will be blustery with wind gusts up to 23 mph.
Between 2 and 4 inches of snow accumulation is expected along the urban corridor before the storm moves out of the area. The foothills and the Palmer Divide could get between 4 and 8 inches of snow. A winter storm watch is in effect and will continue until Tuesday night, according to the weather service.
Snow showers are expected to continue through Tuesday with a high around 37 degrees, the weather services says.
Snow is expected to switch to rain in the afternoon before reverting to snow late in the day. The low temperature will dip to around 22 degrees Tuesday night.
The weather service forecasts warmer temperatures along the Front Range for the remainder of the week. Expect sunny skies with a high near 50 on Wednesday and a high of 61 on Thursday. The sunshine is expected to continue Friday and Saturday with high temperatures both days near 70 degrees.
Sunday’s forecast again calls for a chance of rain with a high near 64 degrees, the weather service says.
