, a Boulder-based company that puts on a variety of summer camp programs for kids in Colorado and California each year, including day camps in Castle Rock and Highlands Ranch, is .
The deadline to apply for financial assistance to attend the company’s daytime camps in 2017 is April 15. Any child from a family with an annual household income of less than $100,000 is eligible to apply, though assistance levels vary. Kids from families that make less than $55,000 a year are eligible for 100 percent off tuition with proof of previous year’s income, while kids whose families make between $85,001 and $100,000 are eligible for a 25 percent discount.
Through a variety of sponsorships — most notably from — and private donations, Avid4 Adventure awarded nearly $55,000 in scholarships to 137 kids in Colorado and California in 2015. In 2016, the scholarship program expanded to include 300 kids for the first time, company officials say.
“Outside Magazine and Avid4 Adventure have joined forces to empower more kids to choose active, outdoor lifestyles by offering summer camp financial assistance for low- and middle-income families,” Avid4 Adventure’s website reads. “Every year, we have been pleased to offer increasingly more financial assistance through both partial and full assistance packages.”
In Castle Rock, Avid4 Adventure will offer four varieties of camps this summer, catering to kids in kindergarten through seventh grade. Its “adventure camp,” being held 11 different weeks between June and August, will provide campers in second through seventh grades with five days of activities, including mountain biking, hiking, canoeing or kayaking. The program also strives to help older kids learn about teamwork and mentorship while improving their skills, according to the company’s website. That program, which is registering campers now, costs $369 without the benefit of a scholarship. Highlands Ranch will host 10 different Avid4 Adventure camps this year including camps that spend an entire week focusing on individual activities like skateboarding, paddle boarding, survival skills and more.
