Aspen Mountain’s ski season will last one week longer than scheduled.

Aspen Skiing Co. announced today Aspen Mountain will close April 23 rather than April 16, as originally scheduled.

“With good base depths from early-season snowfall and the addition of new snow, Aspen Mountain is looking in good shape for a bonus week,” Aspen Mountain Manager Peter King said in a prepared statement. “Spring on Ajax is always a great time to come-out and enjoy some sunshine, après as well as prime slush bumps.”

The ski area is able to stay open longer despite a warm and dry March. Aspen Mountain only received 30 inches of snow in March but the weather has turned lately. About 17 inches of snow has fallen in the past week.
