Three Colorado stores among 400 Payless ShoeSource locations closing nationwide

Topeka-based chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Tuesday

Three Payless ShoeSource stores in Colorado  — including the one at — will close as part of the retailer’s efforts to reorganize through Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The Tuesday, targeting nearly 400 “underperforming” stores for immediate closure in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Payless has 4,400 stores in more than 30 countries.

The , announced Wednesday, include three in Colorado:

  • Sterling: High Plains Shopping Center, 1307 W. Main St.
  • Lakewood: Creekside Shopping Center,  7475 W. Colfax Ave.
  • Northglenn: Northglenn Marketplace,  10620 Melody Drive

Calls to all three Colorado stores on Wednesday could not be connected.
