Getting your player ready...

Beef jerky doesn’t often get a starring role in the food world. Too often typecast as a snack, we think it’s time that these leathery, protein-packed strips of bliss step out of the bag and onto the center of the plate.

So you see why we’re so excited about the Beef Jerky and Beer Pairing at on April 8.

Four beers will be paired with , a four-year-old Colorado company that marinates and smokes up small-batch meat. The jerky flavors are original: holypeno (spicy), holy ghost (super-duper spicy) and holyakki, a limited-edition habanero-teriyaki blend that Eddy’s is making just for Saturday’s pairing.

“I originally started making jerky because I was tired of what jerky has become — mass-produced chunks of meat filled with preservatives and salt and so moist it’s like eating wet steak,” owner Mark Eddy told us. “To me, jerky should be thin and dried out, so I started making my own old-fashioned jerky. Real thin, real dry, real smoke, real ingredients.”

While tickets to the tasting are $17, the solidarity you’ll be showing to the beef-jerky-as-a-meal movement is priceless.
