One motorcyclist died and another was injured in Fort Collins Monday evening when a sports utility vehicle made a left turn in front of them, police said Tuesday.
The crash happened at about 7:24 p.m. when a Chevrolet Tahoe driving north on South College Avenue attempted to turn left onto Swallow Road and drove into the path of the two motorcyclists riding south on South College Avenue.
Police are trying to determine if the speed of the motorcycles played a factor in the collision. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
One of the motorcyclists collided with the Tahoe, hitting it on the rear, right side. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Larimer County Coroner identified him Tuesday afternoon as Eduardo L. Torres, 20, of Fort Collins, and said he died of multiple blunt force injuries.
A juvenile riding the second bike avoided the Tahoe, but was seriously injured when he laid the motorcycle down on the roadway. He has not been identified.
He was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies with serious injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, Stacie Kenny, 46, of Fort Collins, and her two passengers, were uninjured.
The intersection of South College Ave and Swallow Road was closed for approximately five hours while the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team investigated the crash.
Anyone who with information on the crash should contact Officer Tim Brennan at 970-416-2229.
