Re: April 5 news story.
Your article hailsĀ the entry of Norwegian Air International and itsĀ cheap fares to Europe as a boonĀ forĀ air travelers. The public should know thatĀ airline unions across the nation fiercely opposedĀ theĀ Department of Transportationās recentĀ decision to allow NAI to serveĀ U.S. cities.
Not only will the department’sĀ decision destroy thousands ofĀ middle-class American jobs and decimate our nationās airline industry, it also runs counter to effortsĀ byĀ U.S. aviation workers to ensureĀ our industry providesĀ passengersĀ the highest level of safety and security.
NAI is a shell corporation, based in Ireland,Ā thatĀ outsourcesĀ contract pilots from Asia. Left unchecked,Ā NAIĀ will kick off aĀ global race to the bottom, with other carriers moving to establish subsidiaries in foreign countries with lax labor lawsĀ and weak safety and security oversight.
President Donald Trump has madeĀ standing up for American workersĀ a priority for his administration.Ā NAIĀ represents a serious threat to the livelihoods ofĀ hard-working, middle-class Americans who keep our nation’s airlines flying, and to the millions ofĀ passengersĀ who rely on highly trained crews and safe, secure and well-maintained aircraft.
Please keep this in mind when booking your next trip abroad.
