According to a news release from Sgt. Joe Tymkowych, Rocko, a 6-year-old German Shepherd who serves as a drug dog and a patrol dog, now has a vest worth more than $1,000, thanks to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a Massachusetts nonprofit.
The organization was established in 2009 to aid law enforcement in providing body armor to police dogs. Since its founding, the nonprofit has provided more than 2,400 protective vests for police dogs in 50 states, for a combined value of more than $1.9 million.
