Your article states that rising gas prices place an economic and psychological barrier on Americans. Many would probably agree. As the article mentions, lower gas prices allow people to drive as often as they’d like. Unfortunately, this causes congestion on roads, less use of public transportation, and more carbon emissions. Increased gas usage places higher costs on society. With more air pollution and carbon emissions, hospital bills rise and more roads are built, misguidedly, to keep up with the volume of drivers. In fact, higher gas prices are far more beneficial. The less people are willing to drive around, the more likely they are to adopt carbon-conscious modes of transportation like walking, biking and using bus and rail systems.
