Re: “” April 14 guest commentary.

Itap nice to see there are at least two adults in the legislature. Sens. Tim Neville and Vicki Marble aren’t afraid to confront the truth about criminal illegal aliens being the only ones who would benefit from any government entity declaring itself a sanctuary. The primary and proper role of government, and the reason it is instituted by man, is to keep the citizenry safe and secure. Too bad the Democrats will continue to childishly play politics instead of doing their duty and confronting reality, as these two Republican senators did.

Terry W. Donze, Wheat Ridge

I am a Coloradan who applauds sheriffs who refuse to hold immigrants in jail until Immigration and Customs Enforcement shows up. I refute Sens. Tim Neville and Vicki Marble’s guest commentary with these these truths: Communities are safer when there is trust between law enforcement and those they are called to protect. Detainers are not warrants and cannot be lawfully used.

Violating our Constitution by refusing to protect all people who are in our country is not law, and deporting mothers and children is not order.

Maureen Flanigan, Littleton

I would prefer we keep the hard-working immigrants here in the United States of America and instead deport useless and dangerous individuals such as politicians who hop on the bandwagon of a public panic with a view to personal gain.
